VINTAGE BEAUTY ~ Cheryl Ladd
Cheryl Ladd was the sexy angel with a girl-next-door appeal that reeled her fans in by the masses. The kind of angel that seemed innocently unassuming and the most approachable. The one that filled out a white bikini with ease and sheer beauty, that was ever to grace our television screens. Cheryl Jean Stopplemoor was born on July 12, 1951 in Horon, South Dakota. She grew up with a younger brother and did the usual cheerleading and waitressing rites of passage like most other girls during those times, but little did this small town girl know, what bigger and grander challenges lay ahead.
Cheryl Ladd started her quest for fame as a singer during the early 1970s and her first big break came when she was asked to work on a project for Hanna Barbara as the voice of "Josie" for the cartoon "Josie and the Pussycats". In 1977, at the young gorgeous age of 26, she landed her breakthrough role as Kris Monroe, Jill Monroe's (Farrah Fawcett) younger sister in the iconic television hit "Charlie's Angels".
Although, replacing Farrah Fawcett at the time must have seemed like an ominous undertaking and a difficult task. Cheryl Ladd fit right in and became a fan favorite still to this day. Cheryl Ladd also did spreads for Playboy in 1978-1979 and a feature in Maxim in 1999, notably sealing her position as one of the most beautiful actresses of our time. Petite at 5'4, she was in perfect proportion, so thankfully, height never seemed to hinder her other more important attributes. Cheryl Ladd is now in her mid-fifties and still as enticing as ever. Ladd has recently wrapped up an independent film titled "Baggage", that is due out early next year. She remains a box-office draw and seems more than inclined to add a whole new generation to her already very loyal fan base.
